Lisianthus Seed
Lisianthus is easily one of the most elegant flowers we grow. Their rose like blooms have a long vase life and bring a delicate grace to any mixed bouquet or look stunning in a bouquet all on their own. They truly elevate any floral piece.
Lisianthus are slow starters, so their seed needs to be started very early indoors. I start my seeds early in January for seedlings ready to plant in early spring. They are a cold hardy plant that can take a light frost, so getting them in the ground early allows for strong root development before temperatures rise. Blooms come mid to late summer. Plants will provide a second flush of flowers.
These seeds are the tiniest! I generally use a toothpick to help place them on their planting medium, but when my patience isn’t as high, I simply pinch and sprinkle. Germination takes about two weeks. During that time keep seeds moist by misting them and the soil. Keep them covered to hold the moisture in. Once roots are growing, water from the bottom.
